SIP.wine ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how it is used and stored, and your choices. The app is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older due to alcohol-related content.

We only collect what we need to operate the features you use: • Account information — your email address (for sign-in), display name, and (optionally) profile photo. • Camera — when you scan a wine bottle, shop shelf, or restaurant menu, we capture the photo so the app can identify the wine. We do not record video and we do not access your microphone. • Photo library — only the specific photos you choose to import (for example, a saved photo of a wine list). We do not browse or read other photos. • Location (precise, while using the app) — only when you have the Location toggle enabled in Settings. Used to remember where you discovered each wine and to surface nearby and region-based content. Location is never collected in the background. • Wine activity — the wines you scan, save, rate, and your taste-profile answers. This builds your personal palate so the app can recommend wines that match it. • Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data so we can identify and fix stability issues. Not linked to your account.

When you scan a wine bottle, shelf, or menu, the photo is uploaded to our secure backend and sent to one of our AI processing providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Perplexity) to extract the wine name, producer, region, and other details. The provider returns text only; the photo is not used to train any third-party model. The image is retained in your wine history so you can revisit your scans. Wine and producer descriptions shown in the app are generated by the same AI providers based on publicly available information. Mood-based search (such as “something romantic for date night”) is interpreted by an AI model so we can map your description to wine attributes.

We use your information only to: • Provide the core features of the app — wine identification, your personal palate, recommendations, and your scan history. • Personalize what you see — for example, surfacing wines that match your taste, region, or budget. • Maintain and improve the app — fix bugs, monitor reliability, and develop new features. • Communicate with you about your account or important changes to the service. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising. We do not share your data with anyone other than the service providers listed below, and only as needed to operate the app.

We rely on the following providers as data processors to operate the app. Each operates under its own privacy policy: • Supabase — authentication, database, and image storage. • Apple — Sign in with Apple (when you choose this method). • OpenAI, Google (Gemini), Perplexity — AI processing of wine photos and text descriptions, as described above. Your photos are sent to these providers solely to identify the wine and generate descriptions. • Google Maps — to display map content where applicable. Restricted to our app via API key configuration. We do not share your account, contact, or location data with these providers beyond what is necessary for the function described.

Your account, scan history, and wine images are stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security so that only your account can read your data. Connections use TLS. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

• Location — toggle Location on or off at any time in Settings. Disabling it stops the app from collecting location with new scans, even when the iOS permission is granted. • Profile — update your display name and profile photo from Settings. • Delete your account — go to Settings > Danger zone > Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, scan history, profile, and saved photos. • Access, correction, export — depending on your location (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have additional rights over your personal data. The app is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older due to alcohol-related content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from someone under 18, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email where appropriate. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
